Harry Bissell BBD Hell (named so by contractual obligation)

All the info you'd want on the MN30XX series of BBD's.

The MN3011 is the BBD that has 6 taps, meant for reverb, but is also the
basis for the very cool A/DA STD-1, a rack mount flanger/chorus device with
selectable taps.

The nice thing about the MN3011 is that the taps are not multiples of each
other (essential for reverb effects). To duplicate the operation of the
chip would take not only 6 BBD's, but also six different BBD clocks. Most
BBD lovers attempting this would probably walk away with a Bissellian hatred
of all things BBD.

Tom Scholz did actually throw another BBD into the mix of the Rockman 10th
anniversary thingie that Senso is selling - he piped the longest delay into
an additional MN3007 and also had gating on the input to discourage fast
transients from getting into the mix and making sound more BBD'ey and less
reverbery. He divided the taps into what looks to be nice stereo
configuration. He used another MN3007 in a different section of that device
for the 'doubler'.

Cheerio,
Scott
