Sorry.
In my head I was being facetious, but I can see how not everybody might see
it that way.
I think it's possible that there is a strata above general audiophilia - the
'true' audiophile if you will.
Someone who wouldn't bother with expensive tweaks of dubious efficacy and
just stick to the brass tacks of sound reproduction. I think I can safely
say that there is no GUT that eludes sound conoisseurs. Meaning mostly that
I think most important advances in sound reproduction technology will
involve making current technology cheaper if not truly better.

I think I may may just be reacting and lashing out in response to silliness.

> (1) Some audiophiles have really good ears.

Actually I think that there may also be some snobbery involved on my part.
Since I am a trained musician this somehow exempts me from being a mere
audiophile. But the distinction is unjust.

This is the kind of thing that actually keeps me interested in audiophile
stuff.
It is often possible to translate some of the silliness into genuine
success.
Sometimes the best ideas come after a preposterous suggestion.

True there is a very real and audible difference between digital and analog.
It doesn't even really tYeah and nobody is even arguing about the mp3 thing.
No one seems to care how crappy they sound. And you would not BELIEVE the
hash coming out of my Rio.

But I love having around 700M of songs in my pocket.

That's what I like too. I don't like to ever call anyone names but in jest.
With a large audience a little discretion goes a long way.
And the later in the day it is the goofier I get.
