[sdiy] tough decision

If you are not going to acquire any additional 566's then i'd save it as a
spare to fix any potential failure in the other 3. Just by having this
chip, at hand, & in known, easy to get to place, will often assuage Murphy
so that the others will not ever fail.
regards,

Subject: [sdiy] tough decision
I have 4 566's. 3 are ear-marked for a variation on the Clangora from
Midwest Analog (in Nuts and Volts back issue).
I'm going to make the attack adjustable and make some other mods. Basically
it will be doing mostly FM stuff, but it will be pretty much a self
contained synth with 2 VCA's and 2 VCF's etc.
The tough decision is what to do with the 4th 566. I thought maybe I'd just
put them all 4 together and not put in any other oscillators - the 566's
would be the LFO's as well.
Sounds settled but a little voice in my head says 'maybe you could do
something cool with just the one or put it together with some of the 567's,
564's or 565's that you have.'
I know in the end it will end up being whatever I feel like doing, but I
wanna know: what would YOU guys do?
I don't think I'll ever be getting any more 566's. They seem really well
suited for FM synth apps though. I thought about making them all into a
whacky large metal space chime using those piezo-gyros I have... (though I
may still put those in my xr2206 picogenerator)
