Hi!
(Think Forbidden Planet movie soundtrack...)
Bug Music is a nickname for Aleatoric Music, or
"the music of chance" popularized by luminaries
such as Stockhausen and John Cage.
(Alea is Latin for a game of dice)
A few years ago someone referred to this odd music
as "Bug Music" (as in "Y'all are makin' that there
Bug Music aren't ya?") and the name stuck!
Now the definition encompasses many styles of
offbeat (electronic) music including highly structured
works such as the work of Morton Subotnick.
It's used as an affectionate name to describe
almost any music that you can't dance to! LOL!
Best Wishes!
