in my pretty humble experience it is totally worth a try. there may still
be enough voltage to give you the +/- DC rails that the device is
expecting. if not, your rails (and headroom, and overall control voltage
sources that control various functions) may fall a little short, but may
still be tolerable sonically.
or, as a friend of mine once said, smoke what ya got !
