I would not recommend separating the lowpass
filter and the multimode circuit.  You need to connect
at four points (minimum) and these are very sensitive
to noise pickup.  There would be little benefit to
you.

You could use other filters to achieve the same
result... a Moog ladder could work the same (with
a lot of extra circuitry)
