Hmm, to keep the original spirit: how about a pneumatic two-stroke 
cylinder controlled by electromagnetic valves?

Depending on how far you need to move the stop an magnet rod / solenoid 
working as a linear drive might be easier to control and is perhaps a 
bit faster. Longer stroke and slower motion: screw drive.
