If I could toss out a suggestion here: Try tracking
down a feedback eliminator that has a manual tuning
capability. These feedback eliminators have filters
that have a very sharp response curve. They're notch
filters, but if you kind of think of the resonance
problem backwards (or just invert the output and
mix it back with the input), then you might get
something. I've been playing with a Behringer
(I know, don't get that started again) Feedback
Destroyer. I've gotten a couple of pretty good
woodwind sounds out of it, and lots of very
vintage-sounding string-synth sounds so far.
