Make the slider out of iron and move its position with some
coils on the outside... maybe single turns to keep the inductance
low... you could use a timed capacitive discharge system and
REALLY get the plug to move fast.
If you can't play "Toccata and Fugue" on it you could at least
sell the system to the department of defense...
