Well, this is turning into quite a "me-too" concert. So, not wanting
to be left out, I'll just chip in with my ATMEGA8-based DCO I put
together for my Jen SX1000 restoration. Ok, I did this a couple of
years ago, but its still going strong!

Details here:

index.php?menu=2&submenu=4&subsubmenu=1#ModKbd

Does keyboard scanning, MIDI receive, interrupt-driven portamento, uses
one of the timers to generate a clock output while being driven from an
external high-frequency VCO.
Nothing quite so exciting as filters and envelopes though :-)

Oh, and all the code was written in C, using the AVR port of GCC (I
used the "WinAVR" distribution) and the rather neat and tidy AvrX RTOS.

Cheers,
Neil
