         What a wonderful thing. I'm not going to even try an play catch-up 
with you guys. I was thinking. "This is just like my idea but I was going 
to throw a SID chip in there as well." Then I noticed you'd already done 
that. You bastard! :)

This is great stuff. I guess I'm going to have to pull out all the OPLs and 
SID chips I've been saving.

One thing I'm curious about however. How did you deal with the clock noise 
that the OPL's are famous for? Or did you even find this a problem. Every 
OPL3 based sound card I've ever messed with has this problem and I'd 
wondered if that was a function of the sound card's topology or was a flaw 
in the OPL?

I first noticed this on the venerable AWE32. If you shut down the FM input 
to the EMU chip or so long as you never address the OPL3, you don't hear 
that noise. Once you've addressed anything on the OPL3 and woken it up, 
that noise just rings large. I've since investigated it on a lot of other 
sound cards. I even heard it once on someone's recording so I knew they 
were using an OPL3 of some kind. So as much as I use to enjoy noodling with 
the OPL3 I've always had to shut it down.

So I'm curious to know if you've come across this problem and found a way 
of dealing with it.

Most people here know I'm a hardware nerd and aren't real big on bit 
bolting. So I'm particularly impressed that not only have you GNUed your 
work but you've also made it cross platform.

You definitely get my vote for some DIY brownie points for that one. Nice 
web site too.

And just for the record. Don't assume I think any less of anyone else's 
efforts that goes on here. Everyone here pushes the envelope way beyond. 
Just that lately, there's been a few things popping out of left field that 
blow me away. And even if I'm no longer in the same league, I can at least 
promote and encourage wherever I can. So just take it as read that everyone 
here gets my vote.

This however, is something I might just be able to noodle with on those 
dark wintery nights. Besides it'd keep me off the streets and out of the 
grave yards. Where I would exhume newly buried bodies for parts to build a 
human. Well what else are you spoze to do during a storm?
