[sdiy] Help! Touched By Sound ACM-2 Clap Synth - No Midi?

Since this list has been ever so helpful on several occasions, i figured maybe i could find some answers, again..

i just got a touched by sound ACM-2 Analog Clap Synth..  and while it makes some tasty clap sounds, i can't get the feeekin midi workin..   "manual" (1 page, german and english)..  says to use chan 1, D2.. nothin..  also says to reassign the key.. press trigger and turn on.. next midi note will be set as trigger..   no dice..

looking inside, it's a small atmel doing the dirty work on that end..  how can i test the optoisolator?   the chip appears to be running, as I can see some of the ports flashing when i probe it..   any ideas? 

on a side note..   it seems pretty basic inside..  while there are some bells and whistles, (filtering and reverb)  the clap and noise seem very simple..   any ideas where i can get some schematics for similar drum cores?
