[sdiy] idea for a controller, or does this already exist?

..Hi all
a controller idea..
a normal 5 octave keyboard, where the bottom octave can be set to
control filters, oscpitch, ring mod ie any mod signals, or any This
means you can play with the right hand, and have multiple control over
simultaneous modulators. I can learn that low c would bend note, c
sharp bend at a higher rate, d would add res, d sharp remove e add ring
mod, f increase ring mod lfo rate etc. I could press them all down at
once, create rhythmic patterns easily by playing figurations etc. With
knobs its just one at a time, way more real time complexity would be
offered this way. On a synth like the voyager, the keys could be set to
modulate between presets (with a defined speed change) (this exists on
a great softsynth, (symptohm)
We have some amazing modulars around now, but still the problem to me
is the complexity forces us to wind them up and watch them go. This
type of keyboard may offer a lot more real time control over multiple
complex parameters. Knobs are such a waste of fingers. If round knobs
are such great controllers, how come a knob acoustic instrument was
never created? Shout me down or point out any way i can add this to my
modulars..
Would this be hard to build?
