I vaguely remember Jarre saying he did that
with Laurie Anderson, roughly at the Zoolook
period... AFAIR he said it took several hours
(and several trials) to download a simple synth
bass line...
May be it's just a question of synchronisation :
when MIDI appeared, networks were too slow
(and not convenient to use for individuals)...
And when the net appeared, MIDI was already
an old story (or at least ppl were used to it as
patchcords between synths and trying to connect
MIDI through the net was too much of a thinking
shift)...
Just an example : did you notice how difficult it
is for many ppl today to realize that a browser
(or even MS IE) isn't the only way to access the
web ?
