Even less: According to Avnet, the XC3S200-4VQ100C is even $14.80/ea,
TQ144 is 16.61/ea.

Or just use some fewer PicoBlazes and translate computing intense stuff
like digital filters just into a small logic block, then slam that into
the uC's memory space.
