These conversations really can drift off target...
Technically, a point is *almost* 1/72 of an inch, as has been stated. (It's
actually 0.01384".) This has nothing to do with the DPI of the display or
output device. (Historical footnote: Macintosh screens usually displayed 72
DPI, most likely because there are 72 points per inch, but that -- pardon
the pun -- is beside the point.)
As far as I know, graphics programs define the point as *exactly* 1/72 inch,
since 72.254 PPI is rather cumbersome to work with.
EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files are usually vector files. They can also
contain bitmaps, because PS supports both datatypes, but it's unlikely that
a program like this front panel design tool would use bitmaps. I'm not sure
that it supports PostScript, anyway.
In the post that opened this thread, Mark suggested using HPGL, which is
definitely a vector format. HPGL is the most popular format for use with pen
plotters.
