Thanks to all who answered.

I had a brief chat with my mailserver, i.e. was browsing the log --
looks like Roland likes to send out "HELO" commands w/o fully-qualified
hostnames, which instantly get rejected due to aggressive anti-spam
settings (as recommended by any Postfix configuration howto).

The office server seems to be similarly strictly configured...
