I've made good experiences with the NE558 quad timer. You get twice as 
much monoflop blocks for the same price as a 74HC123. The  circuit is a 
bit simpler and doesn't offer all the trigger inputs and clocks, but if 
you don't need those it might be a good alternative to look at.

(can't tell anything about switching noise though. I never run into 
problems, but the circuits I build with it where anything but sensitive 
to noise).
