I assume it's an LCD display. Is the whole synth dead,
or just the display? Last spring, when I worked on my K5m,
I discovered something interesting about its LCD display...

I tried to power it up while I had the case open and
everything laying on the bench, and the LCD wouldn't work.
It flickered random characters and gibberish.
For some reason I started pressing my fingers on the front
of it, and I noticed that it would work where I pressed.
At that point, it occurred to me: the LCD's mounting clamps
it very solidly up against a pane of glass built into the case.
For whatever reason, it wouldn't work without that pressure
applied to the screen. Pressing a sheet of polycarbonate
against the screen got it to work out of the case.

So, you might want to check the Microwave's LCD to see if
it has come loose from its mounting in the case.
