I tested a pile of 2N3906 recently for use as matched pairs. I could have
just used them straight from the bag. They all matched. Basically, with
modern manufacturing, if you get them from the same production batch, there
is a good chance they will match. Of course a nice expensive dual monolythic
PNP is a better choice, but considering your application, I doubt you'd
notice any degradation of performance.
