[sdiy] Silkscreen or Spraypaint - panel / enclosure , any advice?

Which do you prefer, and do you have any tips on materials / where to 
purchase, for instrument readouts. I'm hoping there is some trick to 
getting a clean and professional edge to text, even at a high resolution. 

Also is there a special process that is needed before the metal receives 
a powdercoat?

What about a finishing company for silkscreen, who did you go with, how 
did you like the results?
