I would start by looking for the services notes and schematic ;)
Then you can use a scope to probe different points and verify that you 
see what you would expect from the schematic.
Sorry, I realise this isn't very specific advice!

If you can't find the service notes/schematic anywhere, ask the list.  I 
have them in paper form, so if no-one else has an electronic copy handy, 
I can scan them for you.
