I would try it without the KVM first just to be sure that is not the problem.
Many years ago I had a setup with the output from two PCs going to a switch and
into a single monitor. I just flipped the switch when I wanted to change
machines. This worked fine until I bought a new monitor. The quality of video
with the new monitor was awful, until I removed the switch, then it was OK.
Never had that trouble with the old monitor. Strange.
