[sdiy] off topic: question about video leads

I'm sorry, i know its off topic, but, the thing is, i know someone here will know all the answers ; )

Ive just acquired a new pc monitor, which is somewhat larger than my original one.  Trouble is, im getting ghosting (on stationary items, like text and stuff)

It didnt have a cable hardwired to the back of it, and the cable that was given to me with it looks very 'cheap' (a lot thinner, and more flexible then any monitor cable on my other 'hardwired' monitors)

Is this something that i can solve with an upgraded cable, do you think?  

I do have a kvm switch in there, but ive always had it, and there was never an issue with my previous monitor.

Again, im sorry this is way off synthesizers - i just have the utmost confidence in the knowledge pool here, i guess ; )
