Do it all the time. It's a snap actually and the files are very small since
they are mono and 8 bit (IIRC). Just play back using anything and that's
it. There also a number of places that still sell patch sets (Kidnepro etc)
for all sorts of synths in audio format.

I remember a thread either here or AH about trying to do this kind of thing
by using a PC with a soundcard to store/restore such data. Had anyone
actually tried it? The files might be large (tho it may also work as MP3
which would be smaller than WAV) but at least they don't depend on
mechanical tape drives and cassette media. Disk drives are getting really
big now and the data could be backed up to CD or DVD. I don't have synth
equipment that uses tape data store, but I do have a couple of OLD computers
that do, so one day when I'm really bored, I might give it a shot...
