Generally, all you need to generate for any PC board manufacturer are
Gerber Files and Drill files. I have used many PC Board fab houses over
the years, and that has not been an issue. Although, I guess you should
check any program you are going to purchase to make sure it can generate
those two things. If it can't, it is not worth the effort to purchase it.
Advanced Circuits ( http://www.4pcb.com ) has a free DFM, where you can
upload your CAM files (Gerber and Drill), and it will tell you all the
problems that are in them and if it is possible to make a board from
them. It will make good practice to use this to make sure you know how to
use your PCB program before committing to purchasing boards.
