I think it was Don Lancaster that observed, that for the plates of a  
coupling cap to differ, there must be some current flow.
For a large coupling cap into a high impedance circuit, the capacitor  
plates remain essentially identical in voltage (except for offset).
This eliminates many AC dielectric effects.

Or something like that.
