[sdiy] Buying the full version of Eagle

I'm about to take the dive and drop 399$ of the unrestricted version
of the layout editor and before I do this I'm wondering if I should
consider any other options..  From what I've found Eagle really is the
least expensive option and does everything I'll need, but are there
any hidden caveats?  I assume I can still use the free schematic
editor with the full layout editor..
