[sdiy] Failure modes on bypass caps...

I would say that using 100x 100nF ceramics with no tantalum or 
electrolytic would run the risk of making the power supply resonate and 
ring.

But I'm only going by what I've read - I've never experienced such 
problems (but then again I've always included at least 1 tantalum or 
electrolytic per power rail!)
