Bypass caps (was:Re: [sdiy] Silly question about dual vs. quad op amps

Probably, in reality, bypass caps can be reduced on my boards to 
practically none.  I consider them just cheap insurance.  One bypass cap 
per power supply pin is just a good rule of thumb I like to live by.  Now, 
if the requirements for a circuit specify a certain production cost...well, 
I would seriously look into it.  But for DIY quantities, the time 
investigating how many bypass caps are really necessary exceeds the benefits.
