Hi Benjamin,

I don't actually have an SH09, so haven't ever mod'ed one. One day I
will probably get round to doing some stuff with my SH101.

Yes, the BD99 does sound very much like a 909 bass drum .. but you can
also get sounds that you can't get with a normal 909:

The BD99 has:
Sweep (corresponds to the Tune pot on a real 909)
Tune
Attack (corresponds to the Attack pot on a real 909)
Decay (corresponds to the Decay pot on a real 909)

So you have to set the Tune pot just right to get the BD99 to sound the
same as a TR909. Or just set it to what sounds best in the music you
are doing! The BD99 also has a CV input for the Tune so you can FM your
bass drum :)

I'm afraid I don't have any samples of the BD99 to hand - in any case it
is capable of a very wide variety of sounds. And just like a real TR909
it sounds even better with some external processing like compression or
distortion. I would definitely recommend it - I have 2!

Not all the Analogue Solutions modules are so good though - the worst
one is the SD99 which sounds nothing like a 909 snare. This is largely
because it uses a completely different noise source circuit (to save
components and PCB space).

Seb
