[sdiy] Weird old logic chips & transistors

My parents came to visit this weekend, and my dad hauled along a massive
pile of old electronic parts that he had inherited from my granddad; I had
mentioned I was getting into circuits, and he thought they'd get more use
here with me.

Anyway, I'm sorting through it - I came across some 74 series I
recognized, as well as a couple LM380N amplifiers, and a whole bunch of
LM324N op amps (which I recall seeing in some synth designs, if I recall
correctly).

Then there's a whole bunch of weird logic chips. At least, when I type the
#'s into datasheetarchive, they come up as logic chips, with the following
descriptions (quantities I have listed in parens):

N8416A 3-Input NAND-Function Logic Gate (4x)
N8270A 4-Bit Shift Register (2x)
N8826A Dual J-K Flip-Flop	(2x)
N8266B (?) (2x)
SP321A Dual J-K Flip-Flop (1x)
SP328A Dual D-Type Flip-Flop (2x)
SP362A Single Monostable Multivibrator (5x)
SP380A 1700mV nor gate Philips (6x)

MC667P Dual Monostable Multivibrator (4x)
MC717P 2-Input NOR-Function Logic Gate (1x)
MC719P 4-Input NOR-Function Logic Gate (5x)
MC725 (handwritten) 4-Input NOR-Function Logic Gate (1x)
MC778P Dual D-Type Flip-Flop (5x)
MC789P ? (5x)
MC790P ? (1x) (dual JK flip-flop - from online forum)
MC791P ? (1x)
MC792P 3-Input NOR-Function Logic Gate (1x)
MC793P 3-Input NOR-Function Logic Gate (2x)
MC830P 4-Input NAND-Function Logic Gate (10x)
MC846P 2-Input NAND-Function Logic Gate (1x)
MC894P 4-Bit Shift Register (2x)
MC9820P 2-Input Multifunction Logic Gate (2x)

Anyone seen these before? What in the world is all this? Are these some
weird pre-TTL kind of technology? Would they be useful in anything now,
i.e. could I interface them with the 74 series?

After much googling I can't seem to find any actual datasheets.

Oh, and there's piles and piles of transistors, that I'm just starting to
sort, including a whole bunch of 2n299 germaniums.

There's quite a few D29A4s and 2n3505... would those be of any use? (When
I look at a transistor data sheet I don't really know what what I should
be looking for...)
