Well, they need to get something working in MATLAB first. ;)

Working with undergrads is sometimes slow going. Hell, working with
graduate students is sometimes slow going.

Some of my inspiration, actually, came from reading about Serge
can't-spell-his-last-name-off-the-top-of-my-head's experiences at Cal
Arts and hearing/reading stories from Don Hassler and Peter Grenader about
those days...

I'm requiring our sophomore DSP/system theory class and our junior
microelectronics class as prereqs. I've been inundated with wave after
wave of e-mails asking me to drop the microelectronics prereq. If I did,
my class would rapidly double in size. I really need to keep it though,
since I want them to be comfy with diodes and transistors and op amps.
Interestingly, a lot of students who can't take it are interested in
sitting in. How often does that happen in undergrad classes? ;)

Also, I don't want the class to be _to_ big my first time around...

Oh, on another note, I finally got around to starting to put together the
MOTM version of the Yamaha GX-1 filter. I haven't soldered in 15 years,
but I'm finding I picked it up again pretty quick... it's going together
very smoothly so far. Paul's instructions are awesome. The solder fumes
don't smell as nasty as I remember them. I don't know if that's because of
the solder Paul includes in his kits or if my nose has changed over the
years.

The lab I work in, which is the DSP group at GaTech, is all theory and
computer-oriented people - people are looking at me and my soldering iron
with confused and fascinated looks. I keep shocking people when I walk
into the kitchen to wash flux off the board. "You can do that????"

I need to start looking into the Blacet stuff now... he has some really
intriguing and unique modules.
