many years ago, read about a guy pasting many snippets of recorded tape to a large rectangular surface, and then playing it by dragging live tape heads across the tape... originally, thinking he could do some crude sampling/ scratching my following a specific tape thread to play it back variable speed, but couldn't get things aligned accurately...
i've always wanted to do that.
