[sdiy] 74HCT174 in place of 40174?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use a 74HCT174 in place of a 
40174 on a Memorymoog's DMUX board?

The pinout's the same, they're both CMOS parts, and I've found some 
listings that imply that they're interchangeable.

Also, where does the 14174 come in?  I see that used in the same 
application in the SCI stuff.

And there's also a 4174, from what I can tell.
