Tom,

The Freq pot and the "scaling" trim don't directly interact, set it where
ever you want. This is probably a PAIA user procedural simplification for
ease of "ear tuning".

When tuning by ear it is often found to be easier to "ear tune" at high
frequencies which is where errors in the scaling often accumulate.

If you want a specific Fz when the front panel pot is centered then look to
R18.

regards,
p

Subject: [sdiy] Paia 9720 VCO

Dumb Paia question which I'm hoping someone else has had too...

The tuning procedure for the 9720 seems based around setting the front panel
pot to full and then simply setting the scale trimmer until its 1v/oct.
This bothers me from the standpoint of I like pots centered.

Is there any reason not to add a trimmer and resistor into that first mixer
so that you can center the Pitch pot and then trim the osc tuning from the
new pitch trimmer and the scale trimmer?
