Hi,
I am using Sepctrol 248's in 1/4" and 1/8" spindle, they are available from
Farnell in Linear and Log. Its worth ordering in 25 or even 100's. New ROHS
compliant models are due soon. They are accurate and have some rotational
(physical) resistance, which makes them "feel" better. Occassionally an
individual pot will be defective, so its worth checking them before
finishing the module.
I have also used Bourns 91A's, but they are just too expensive in low
volumes. They also have a very free "feel", which may suit some people. I
have never had a duff one of these.
The fixing nuts on both Spectrol and Bourns fit under the bottom of the
control knobs I use, which makes the modules look better. Some fixing nuts
are bigger (Omeg) and don't fit under the bottom of the pot, this leaves the
nut visible and a rather unsightly mess...
Spectrol only do 1M pots to special order, so I fall back to Omeg ECO pots,
which are cheap but not great quality.
Pots and switches are the primary controls on a Modular Synth, and I think
its worth spending a bit extra to get the quality right. You can see all the
hardware I use here:
