Dustin,

  If you already have a nice array of synths, you could start with
some interesting VCF kits. Get a power supply, build the stomp box
adapter or any simple preamp to boost your signals to +/-5V, and your
in business. Check out the CGS stomp box adaptor for an easy preamp (
