I would heartily recommend a combination of the two. I have a effects
processing system built from both. You know, the basic stuff from dotcom
and the occasional exotic item from MOTM. There are various power supply
distribution options available from both manufacturers, the form factors
are close enough in size (equal height, different widths) to use in one
cabinet, and they are both black and Moog-y.
Good combo.

Subject: [sdiy] Building a modular

Ok, as the fiance has given her blessing for me to further over run the
basement with gizmo's she doesnt understand...
I havnt done much work with electronics since college, but I am sure a
lot of it will come back to me when I get started doing a little DIY
work. I do still have good soldering skills (Ive done some simple work
the occassional broken synthesizer).
I am either planning to buy one of the 'packaged' modulars, either as a
kit (if available) or preassembled or start with just buying a few
signal processing modules (filters, shapers and the like) and using my
current synths as signal sources to start with (ive already got a pretty
good sized rig).
what would you do? Im probably looking at either the MOTM stuff or
Synthesizers.com stuff.
Tony
