christian,
i built a PAIA theremin kit, and it works great. i love it. i mean, i
am not a theremin player, and have nothing to compare it to, but it
does what it is supposed to do. I don't use it standalone mode, simply
because a whiny sine wave is not very interesting (sonic-wise), so i
plug the CV outputs into my modular or MiniMoog, and then it really
becomes interesting (sounds then like a ribbon controller or
something). I also put this cheesy light control circuit on the Pitch
CV, and control an array of blue LEDs inside the box that get brighter
when pitch goes up,and dimmer when it goes down. the back of the box
has a clear plastic panel so the audience can see the lights. Hey, i
live in austin, the hippie capital of the US, they love this stuff.
and again, you will get great support from paia (from my experience).

hi,
yesterday my girl and i watched this ooold movie and they used a
theremin for the ufo sound... she liked the sound, i like her - sooo
why not build a theremin for her?
it seems there are a few different approaches to this, so could anyone
recommend a simple one that does not require hunting for long obsolete
parts and similar obstacles? any links and insights welcome :)
thanks, christian
