Actually, in this case, I think it's more like:

"Hey this other guy invented the letter A, and I copied it. I heard that
in your original manuscript you used a tilted letter A (that *I*
copied!!!). I just want you to know now, that if you use any letter A from
here on out, no matter how dissimilar it is to mine, you're a thief..."

Isn't it a little ridiculous to argue over control of something you copied
from someone else anyway? I mean, let's put this into perspective: not
*invented*...*copied*. I think the kind of effort that people protect by
honor is the kind of effort that goes into creating something, not copying
it. If you invented a completely new filter design, I could see getting
your panties in a bunch over it (and I think everyone would rightly agree
with you)...and regardless, Paul's said he doesn't even use *your* copy
anyway!
