i think its more likely that he was familiar with trademark dilution 
and would've definitely been diluting his moog trademark if he'd 
allowed you to pitch your product as 'endorsed by bob moog', thus .. 
he didn't endorse it, and explicitly stated that you weren't to pitch 
it that way, in order to avoid any further fuss about it in the 
future.  i don't think its because monowave was competition to 
voyager; more likely a larger general situation than that: bob 
exercising due diligence on his marks.

many synth mfr's have, in the past, attempted to get bob to endorse 
their copies of his designs, and all failed.  rightly so ..
