I understand.  I think it's a decent idea, however, and perhaps one  that 
could be "argued for" persuasively (an argument, for example, that "Wendy"  
herself, and other people whose names could be in the running) would  probably not 
object to, unless she had her own historical/scientific evidence  against it.  
But this is quite possible.).
 
As far as "niches" go, yes this is true.  Think of this: it's not the  case 
that any/many of us live in areas where "hogshead" is a standard unit of  
measure (not to say that some are not - so if you are, do not email me telling  me 
that I'm off base), but that unit of measure has a name for a reason.  I  
guess it would be appropriate to say something like "if one were to make the  
v/oct a standard, then one ought to name it 'Moog'", and then open  that 
conditional to some sort of debate based on historical evidence etc.....BUT  - hehe, 
are there standards for coming up with standards?  I.e., why is  "historical 
evidence that RA Moog invented v/oct" a 'good' standard for naming  that unit 
after him (if in fact he did invent it)..etc - you all get the  drift...and this 
could go on and on.
