what does it mean? That's easy - it's my email address ;)

but seriously, I'd call "modular" a bunch of sound generating/alternating 'objets', while all the connections between them can be user configurable in easy way.
So within that definition you can fit Moog55, a few breadboards on the table, VAZ software, or Alesis Andromeda to some extent.
