I think the main question when someone is 'just starting'
is, what experience in soldering (if any) they have.
Because, if one hasn't soldered before, that is where all the problems
will come from.
I'd hate to try to make a Fatman the first time i had an iron in my hand!
(Not to say anything against the Fatman, there have been many built
successfully, plus seeing it comes from PAiA electronics, you can
contact them if you need any help debugging it).
But anone who has never soldered before, might be better trying one of
the smaller PAiA kits first.
I certainly don't intend to be offensive or condescentding here, but in any
field,
it is difficult to give advice without knowing what experience a person may
have.
Personally, I came to soldering 'late' in life & it was a bloody struggle at
first,
believe me. But, the only way to lean, is by doing, so.... GO FOR IT!
