[sdiy] vactrol?

Hello all,
I've just rejoined the list (was on about 5 years ago), as i am building a modular at the moment.
I'm interested in fooling around with programmers and have learned that using vactrols is a solution to programming pots on a module.  Gene Stopp was kind enough to share a little info with me on how this was done on emerson's rig.
Anyway, i could use a little help on where to source these devices, and any tips on connecting them.

I tried to look in the synth diy archives, but the list shows 1999 as the last one available.  maybe i am looking in the wrong place?  Is there a way to search the entire archive with a keyword?
