[sdiy] Wall warts & grounding

This talk recently of wall warts had me thinking about some hum issues with effects pedals.  I have looked at a lot of sites to fix power supply hum, but I haven't seen the ground in the effects circuits returned to Earth.  I know there's some electrical wizards out there; is there a problem with doing this on a straight 9VDC wall wart?
