[sdiy] AvrSynth -- midi controls and switches??

Hey all,

I've been contemplating using external, midi-based
switches and sliders for the AvrSynth. The problem is
which midi commands to use. The two options I see are:

1. use (highjack) existing controller numbers, whis is
limited for expansion

2. use sysex to send controller info, which would be
wide open for expansion

Comments? Ideas?
