No, the S6/BB model Cliff 3.5mm jack sockets (the model used by Analogue
Solutions, etc.) still have the same problem.
As coincidence would have it I've just been speaking to a Cliff rep
today about exactly this problem! We've just built a batch of 100
devices and right at the last minute we decided to change from Cliff
JYO-35 type sockets to S6/BB (because the JYO sockets have that knurled
ring nut which is a pain to tighten, whereas the S6/BB sockets have a
nice normal nut). Unfortunately we've just found out to our cost that
the jack plugs we are using are not compatible with these new sockets :-(
Anyway here's the info from the Cliff rep ...
The standard S6/BB sockets *do* have problems with jack plugs with
non-standard (slightly too small) tips.
Cliff also make a special version of this socket with a different shaped
contact that does work with non-standard plugs. However the socket that
Cliff UK stock and that Rapid sell in UK is the standard (i.e.
problematic) S6/BB. The compatible type have a MOQ of 1000 (too much
for us, so we're changing the jack plugs instead).
