Scott,
I suppose I should duck for mentioning this, but my favorite boards are from Futurlec. If I order these boards (and these boards only) I have pretty good luck getting the shipment in fairly decent time. A super-big YMMV goes out to you on this, though.

My favorite is the 'large prototyping board'. It's laid out very well, pretty much like a standard breadboard. Five pads per strip, with a generous supply of power busses. In fact, eight solid vertical traces run lengthways on it, flanked by vertical five pad strips, and I've found that to be very, very handy for laying out power busses. There's plenty of opportunity to Bissepatchellize your design (IE, generous bypass capping). You can see detail of what I'm talking about here:

My next favorite is the 777 protoboard. This is only four pad per strip, but is still very, very handy to use. It's got a good selection of distribution busses, and this one has a bus that goes under each column (IE, it would run under the IC's). Nice thing about it is that it is ringed by two pad strips for handy I/O wiring.
Their stripboard is decent as well. Prices are good, but, well, it's Futurlec. FWIW, I've never *not* gotten what I've ordered from them.
If the Futurlec thing is too intimidating, IIRC, MPJA has stripboard, but not nearly as cheap.
Cheers,
Scott

Subject: [sdiy] Protoboard / Stripboard
Hey List:
I'm putting together a life-time buy list of parts (I love Pb and
through-hole) and I'm looking for sources of inexpensive prototyping
stripboard. The kind I use is etched on one side with 4 or 5 hole
connected strips per IC pin and rail buses that are laid out in a way
similar to solderless breadboards. I'd like to buy this stuff now before
it becomes too scarce. I've looked at All Electronics, but they have only
pad per hole and Euroboards which aren't optimal (the pin strip lands only
have 3 holes, and one hole is under the IC, one hole is for the IC pin and
only one can be used to solder something else, they are usable, but a pain).
Suggestions? USA firms are best for me.
